Job Description

The Assistive Technology Leadership Chair will serve at a statewide level to provide collaboration, leadership, and guidance for the state of Iowa. The chair will be funded by the DE via a contract with AEAs; additional contract days will be determined per discipline based upon action plans and needs.


 


  • Collaborate with the DE to provide discipline-specific leadership and guidance


    • Meet with Education Program Consultant on a regular and ongoing basis


    • Meet with other discipline-specific chairs on a regular and ongoing basis


  • Convene and facilitate statewide discipline-specific leadership group


    • Plan and facilitate meetings with Education Program Consultant


    • If prioritized, plan annual discipline-specific conference


  • Develop 3- to 5- year discipline-specific plan for statewide system of support services


    • In collaboration with the DE and other discipline-specific chairs


    • Align priorities for learning with DE and AEA Special Education Directors


    • Develop discipline-specific guidance on topics of need 


    • All plans will be recommended for approval by the discipline-specific chair and submitted to the DE and AEA Special Education Directors’ group for support


  • Prioritize topics for discipline-specific professional learning


  • Maintain electronic repository of tools, materials, and resources on a predetermined site
